Who am I?
My name is Albaraa Alaraj. I’m an international student majoring in biomedical engineering at Medipol University. Growing up, the medical field has always been one of my top interests alongside with engineering, and the reason behind that is me witnessing war a young age back in my home country and that’s why I choose this major to study. I was born in Syria and I lived there for 10 years before I move to Saudi Arabia to complete my second 10 years there because of the war. And now I’m in Istanbul to complete my education. Let’s see what Istanbul has is store for me.
Cancer is a condition in which the body’s cells grow out of control. Lung cancer is a type of cancer that begins in the lungs and a condition in which the body’s cells grow out of control. It’s a type of cancer that begins in the lungs and has a significant impact on them and the rest of the body. Lung cancer has a few causes, but it could be somehow avoided if a person was very careful.
Like any disease, lung cancer has several symptoms but they do not always appear in the beginning. When early symptoms do show, they can include things like continuous cough, chest discomfort, breathing difficulties, bleeding while coughing, constantly feeling exhausted, losing weight due to an unknown cause. Someone feeling these symptoms is recommended to directly see a doctor.
Lung cancer can get to any person regardless of their age or gender, but in a population, smokers are affected by it the most. The main factor that leads to lung cancer is cigarette smoking. Cigarette consumers are at a high risk of developing this condition because smoke is a great damager of lung tissue the moment it is taken in. when cells of the lungs get damaged, they start behaving abnormally. Not only smokers are at this risk, but also people who are around or sitting next to a person who smokes and is inhaling the smoke.
There are some strategies to try to prevent it from affecting you. Firstly, do not smoke, always try to stay far from people who smoke, always wear a face mask while working with chemicals that could be containing ingredients that cause cancer, eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, last but not least exercise regularly.
In conclusion, I think lung cancer is a disease that has killed many people and everyone should stay away from everything that could lead to it and always be careful and take care of his/her life.
